If you are using windows XP installed in your system and you try to access “localhost” then you may be asked to fill authentication details i.e username and password.
The reason behind this is windows has built in Windows server named “IIS” Internet Information server which is used to control web and other web related application which uses port no 80. Port numbers are like addresses which is used for sending and receiving message in networking. Wamp server also tries to use the same port no 80. So what can we do in this case.
The easiest method is to stop the “IIS”
Go to “controlpanel” and click on “Administrative tools”
Then click on “Services”
Double click on “IIS Admin”
Then you will get a dialog box as below.
Select “IIS (internet information service)” and right click on it.
Click on “Stop”. You will get a warning dialog box.
Click on “Yes” button.
Then the IIS stops and you can see the process.
Now you restart the wampserver and again go to localhost. Now this time you won’t be asked for login authentication details.
